Today is the first day of 2006. A fresh new year stretches out in front of me full of possibilities. Many blogs, email groups and forums are full of posts regarding hopes and dreams for 2006. This blog will, of course, do the same lol.
As writers, we are often faced with the 'dreaded blank page', but as I look at the blank page with the simple title of "2006", I don't dread it at all. I'm excited about what's in store for me and I hope that I allow God to author this new page in my life. I pray that I allow him to 'write' through me as I try to be his tool.
On the Women @ Home message forum (link at top of this page), the QOTD for 12/28/2005 was "What resolutions would your family/those closest to you want you to make?"
I didn't have to give this one much thought. I'm sure my family would say that they would like me to spend less time on the computer and to become more involved with them. I made a good start with this in 2005 and I think it would make a great goal for 2006.
The QOTD for 12/29/2005 was "What is that one thing about you that you want to retain in yourself for the new year?"
Another great question. I thought a little about this and decided that I'd like to retain the lessons I've learned this past year and expand those lessons while learning new ones in 2006. Hmmm...another goal for 2006.
I've also done a bit of blog hopping through some of ACFW members blogs. Marilynn Griffith wrote a blog post about her word (Wisdom) for 2006. As I read through her post entitled What's the Word?, the word More came to mind and wouldn't let go. More. More of God and less of me? More changes? More family members for sure as the birth of our baby is nearly upon us. More. I think I like this word. I don't think it will be easy at times, but I know God will fill me with whatever I need this coming year. I even prayed and asked God if there was a different word, but More seems to be it. It's such a simple word and I guess that's part of the point. God has been simplifying things in my life. Pruning and filling. More. Yeah, I think that will work.
God brought about so many changes and helped me overcome a lot in 2005. If there was a word for 2005, I'd have to say faith. He was teaching me a lot about faith and it became one of the middle names I chose for this baby. He strengthened my faith and I feel his plan is to keep me heading in this same direction so the word More is fitting.
How would you answer those two QOTDs? What word comes to mind for you in 2006? If you blog about it, leave a comment and let me know.
