Last weekend, I was snuggled in my warm bed with Little Miss Princess. We were both sound asleep after a restless night - poor thing was miserable, and so was mama. Something drifted through slumber land and pulled me towards reality. It was a voice whispering through the sleep haze:
"Honey." I chose to ignore it and head back to la la land.
"Honey." The voice persisted.
"What?" I gave in because I knew Kind Dude wouldn't give up.
"Let's go grocery shopping."
"What?" I'm sure I didn't hear correctly.
"Let's go get groceries and hurry back, so we aren't gone all day." I did hear him right and peered at the clock. Six something!
"It's 6 in the morning!" I feel Little Miss Princess move beside me and hold my breath until she stills again.
"Shhh, you'll wake her up." I give him a look that says it wouldn't be a problem if I were sleeping, too. "It's snowing outside, it'll be fun."
"It'll be cold." I'm whining. I don't want to leave my warm bed and traipse outside in the frigid air, but I can tell, I'm losing this battle. I'm still holding on to the slim chance this is all some cruel joke.
"I have the car warming up." He grins. "It'll be nice and warm. Come on, honey. We can get the shopping done and have the whole day ahead."
"You ARE serious." I look at him and sigh. "You are insane!"
Or maybe I am because I'm climbing out of bed and joining him on this whacky idea. He hovers while I'm pulling on my long johns and clothes. I know he's worried I'll crawl back in bed and I have to admit, I'm tempted. But I'm also caught up in his excitement.
After adding several layers, a hat, scarf, and gloves, I'm ready. A winter wonderland greets me outside and I have to admit, this is fun. We've never snuck out at the crack of dawn to go get our grocery shopping done.
King Dude continues to surprise me. I wonder how he will do that next. Later that night, we headed out for his office parties (yes, plural). That's a whole other post coming soon.
