Tonight everyone wanted to pitch in to get dinner going. We'd spent the day with friends and enjoyed ourselves and it carried over into dinner prep. We sauteed, chopped, sliced, cried (onions), laughed, mixed, kneaded, baked and danced with daddy (20 month old).
The house smells heavenly (hope it tastes as good) and most of all - we are enjoying a wonderful family time. I snuck away to check on a recipe and decided to steal a moment to blog for today.
This morning - I didn't see this wonderful day coming. Amber's teething which equals tired mommy. The kids were a little snippy. Then we prepared for company and somewhere in there as we anticipated spending time with friends, everything shifted.
Sometimes we just need to change our perspective. One great way to do this is to do something for someone else. Preparing for company got our minds off of ourselves and on to blessing them. Another way is to have something fun to look forward to. Work hard so you can play hard. If we play without laboring first, it isn't nearly as sweet.
I need to get back to this family memory in the making.
Today I'm thankful for friends and family.
