eBook review: How to Write

(How to Write was provided to me free of charge by Active Christian Media (previously called Mind and Media), who received it from the publisher for reviewing purposes.)

How to Write - Communicating Ideas and Information by Herbert E. and Jill M. Meyer is an excellent resource whether you are writing a letter or a whole book. I found myself gleaning gems throughout the book to apply to my own writing.

There are three parts to the book:

  1. Organizing for the Job
  2. Turning Out a First Draft
  3. Polishing the Product

Each part has a list of steps to take and an explanation on how and why each step is needed. Included in the book is a section on how to use the book and a question and answer section.

The book only has 110 pages making it a quick read, but the pages are packed with useful information about the writing process. The authors recommend you read the book through once and then use it as a handbook as you go through each step from choosing a category to write in (such as an essay, press release or an article) to checking your grammar in the polishing stage.

I think this book would benefit beginning writers, home educators desiring to teach their children how to write, and even seasoned writers needing a refresher. Anyone with a desire to write anything would find something useful in this book. How's that for speaking in generalities.

Now that I've read the book through for reviewing purposes, I plan on going back through and actually applying the steps to my next writing project. Let's see, what category best accomodates my idea...?

Oh and one more point to make: You can get this treasure for $1.99! It is definitely a bargain. Click the book cover above to purchase it.
