Pearls Amidst the Driftwood

  • Feeling...
  • Time spent writing... Cold and overcast
Yesterday, my Monday went from a Friday Imposter to a Monday Disaster. I was frustrated because I couldn't concentrate on my writing. The baby was fussing, the kids were bickering, and the puppies were messing. I really didn't want my day to end on such a negative note and since it was only 4:00 P.M., I figured I had time to change my mood. I did what any mother on the verge of insanity would do, I cried out to God! He was faithful to answer in that quiet way of His...go with the natural ebb and flow of your family. Hmmmm. Well, let's see. Baby is fussing and obviously needs some cuddle time. Kids are bickering and need some guidance. Pups are messing and need some attention. I gathered them all around and spent some time with them. The baby nursed and snuggled while I chatted with the children, and we all watched the puppies. Ahhhhh...peace. Eventually, I got the baby and puppies to sleep while the rest of the kids watched Animal Planet for an hour. I hit the keyboards hard, praying for inspiration and wrote most of my article. I enjoyed that hour and when it was up...I nursed the baby again, said good-night prayers with the family and then it was time for hubby and I to snuggle and watch our TV shows. Then I looked at the pearls mixed in with my driftwood. My sweet, four year old son, Christian, had greeted me first thing with a gift. He had taken a gift bag and some tissue paper and lovingly wrapped the phone in it. How precious is that? Later in the day, he helped set the dinner table by getting all of the drinks. He wanted to bless his daddy so he gave him his special Rescue Heroes cup. My little man has a huge heart hiding under his rough and tumble exterior. Pearls. My daughters and I shared laughs throughout the day. Hubby and I shared some private laughs in the evening. The puppies lavished their affection on me (big, sloppy, wet puppy kisses for starters). God answered prayers. All of these are beautiful pearls. I challenge each of you to look for the pearls amidst your driftwood. They are there...sometimes you have to look hard but you will find them.

Hi Audra! I saw a link to your blog on the LOL list and thought I'd drop by and welcome you to the world of blogging. I laughed out loud when I read about your son wrapping up the phone for you as a gift! How precious! I look forward to reading more here.
