wonderful! I celebrated my 35th birthday on October 29th. Bob and I left in the morning after I made everyone a pancake breakfast. My daughter protested saying I shouldn't have to make it, but I wanted to because they all mean so much to me.
We headed out to go look for a bunkbed set for our boys. We didn't really find anything so that's on hold for a bit. After that, we went to lunch at the Chinese restaurant. I really enjoy these moments with Bob all to myself. He's such a sexy man. We arrived home to a decorated living room and kitchen. There were streamers and balloons everywhere.
When we got back home, Bob took all the kids out shopping for my birthday and I took some Tylonol and lay down to try and ease my headache. I dozed a little (very little), but my headache eased. I heard the hustle and bustle of everyone returning and the hushed excitement in the air lol. I was also ordered to stay in my room and a sleeping Jake was deposited on my bed with me. Nothing like a sleeping little one. So sweet.
Finally, I was able to come out of my room after listening to sounds of a hammer and wondering what they were doing lol. They had hidden my gifts around the living room in plain sight. I don't remember the order I found everything, but the goodies were: a beautiful orchid (I've been wanting one for years) from my oldest daughter (15), a pretty brush to match my set from my hubby (yes, I have a set of brushes...they serve different purposes...what can I say, I'm a hair dresser), mini sharpies (love office supplies...it's a writer thing) from my youngest son (2), a wall hanging of Jesus and a boy (which Bob hung on the back door to cover the window and block the sun) from my oldest son (6), the novel 'Beyond Tuesday Morning' from my third oldest daughter (9), two medallion things: a cross with doves on it and a round one with an eagle on it (both have writing on them) from my oldest son, and a really soft, black scarf from my second daughter (13). My hubby also got me a figurine of a husband and wife called 'Together' from the Willow Tree collection. Here's a picture of it.
I plan to collect more of these like 'Promise' and 'Cherish'. They portrait the things I truly treasure: family. The kids also spent quite a while putting together a box of homemade cards, jewelry, bookmarks, etc. I still haven't finished going through it all.
We didn't have any cake because two days before that, we had cake at homegroup to celebrate mine and another ladies' birthdays and brought home a lot of it. I was definitely all sugared out lol.
It was a wonderful celebration! It was also the deadline for The New New Me Deadline. More about that in the next post.
