Laying foundations

  • Feeling... very tired
  • Pondering... empty brain tonight ;)
Carol asked if I was procrastinating on writing again.  Carol, I have most assuredly procratinated on posting again.  I've been working on my procrastination this past week though.  Hmmm.  Let me try that statement again.  I've been working on NOT procrastinating this past week though.  I'm finding small successes each day as I battle bad habits.  I still have a ways to go, but I'm taking it one day, one moment at a time.

I really do need to pray more for God's strength to overcome through the day though.  I really don't have to struggle alone because God has already made it clear, he's on my side.  I just need to include him.  He can't help if I don't ask or allow him to.

Anyway, one thing I'm doing is laying foundations (bet you didn't see that coming).  I'm putting chore guidelines, meal planning, time management ideas, routines, checkpoints, etc. into place to help me have a better chance at succeeding.  Having a solid foundation laid is the key to building anything successful.

Spiritually: laying a solid foundation based on Christ will help me stand strong when things come against me.  I can only get to know the Lord if I spend time with him and he will give me peace and joy in return even if the world around me is chaotic.

Managing my home: again laying a foundation and using tools such as the new, good habits will help me succeed in running this home the way it needs to be run.

Writing: again laying a foundation through mentors, learning about my craft, reading books in the genre I want to write in, etc. will help me develop my writing style and skill so God can use my work to reach others.

Laying foundations applies to all areas of my life and I'm in the season of building those solid foundations.

This is going to be short tonight as I'm not feeling all that well today.  I do want to mention that I started a group called Christian Nonfiction Writers for...er...Christian nonfiction writers.   Seriously, if you are a Christian writer writing nonfiction for either the Christian or the secular markets, feel free to join the group.  There will be critiques, sharing of knowledge, and gleaning Godly wisdom.  Here's the url: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/c-n-w/

Night all...I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday weekend (for those in the US) and a wonderful non-holiday weekend for those elsewhere in the world.

Sounds like you are making big progress Audra. :)
Be sure to take notice in your accomplishments! Sometimes it's easier to dwell on what we haven't done and we forget all that we have done already!
